Ruffle Gloves in Purple

Don't walk! Run to your local Target to snap up one of these lovely pairs of gloves. This item is no longer available online but I've seen it in at least two local Target locations. The gloves are bright purple with the most divine ruffle accent! The lining inside is smooth. You will want to wear (and stare at) these gloves all day long.

Cloche Hat Love #2

Cloche hats are timeless and we vintage-style-loving gals are very lucky because these hats are popping up everywhere this season. My collection has already grown to about 10 and I would still buy more if I had the room and the money. Cloche hats are a great Fall/Winter accessory. They keep your head warm, they can complement your outfit and they are very eye-catching. And although the cloche-hat-wearing ladies of the 1920s and 1930s wore their cloches with short hair, I think these hats complement long hair too. The hat gives your head a very sleek uniform shape and out from the bottom comes this luscious wave of hair. Tres magnifique! Here are some lovely cloche hats, of various prices, that you can find online. And while they are not selling them online, I encourage you to check out the cloche hats in blue and purple at DSW.

the gummy bear chandelier

Unfortunately, these aren't real gummy bears - though I guess if they were the chandelier would be eaten in an evening. But this is truly impressive nonetheless. Made from 5,000 acrylic gummy bears strung by hand, each light fixture takes 2 months to finish.

Budget-Friendly Forever21 Accessories

One of the things I like most about shopping at Forever21 (both the store and online) is their amazing collection of accessories. All sorts of wonderful baubles and doodads that make me all giddy. It's very hard for me to feel guilty shopping through this section because everything is so affordable! For a spiffy gal on a budget, some inexpensive accessories can really transform an outfit, a look, a style.  If you like a Forever21 accessory, my advise is to snag it quickly because their stock has high turnover and popular items sell out fast.

When I'm on the hunt for accessories, I have several details I look for. Polka-dots, stripes, birds, elephants, cherries, bows, hearts, anything 1920s, something that reminds me of an old movie, Art Deco style, Parisian style, Nautical style, vintage travel chic and of course everything cloche! Here are some accessories currently on Forever21 that I liked and I thought I'd share with you.

(unfortunately the black one is sold out!)

Cloche Hat Love #1

My name is Raquelle and I have a cloche hat addiction. I just think these 1920's style hats are adorable and I'm really happy that currently there is a trend for modern interpretations of this classic hat. Move aside Fedora, it's time for cloche hats to shine! I thought I'd do installments called Cloche Hat Love for whenever I find nice cloche hats online. I just picked up the cloche from Forever21 that I list below and I'm super excited to get it. It'll be my 5th child in my little cloche family.

Persephone Books

Persephone1

Persephone2

Persephone Books is a fantastic book publisher and I heart them something fierce. They are based in London and publish out-of-print or neglected books written by women. Most of their books are from the earlier part of the 20th century and before. Their hardcovers come with a simple plain grey cloth cover and a cream label with the title & author of the book. When you open the book you get hit with a magnificent shock of color. The endpapers (those thicker decorative pages inside the front and back covers) are based on vintage fabrics. They chose the fabrics to suit the book. Their paperbacks have full-color covers featuring a related piece or artwork. They have french-flaps and contain the same fabric design in the endpapers as the hardcovers, except in black-and-white. These are gorgeously designed books but they also happen to contain great writing.

Persephone Books is most well-known for reissuing Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day by Winifred Watson (it was a major movie in 2008 starring Amy Adams and Frances McDormand). It's No. 21 in their series and the endpaper comes from a 1938 furnishing fabric.

Even though Persephone Books is based in London, they are willing to send you their wonderful Biannually newsletter and catalog to wherever you are in the world. You can buy their books from their online shop or order them from your local bookstore.
