I'm taking a page out of Kate's book and posting something I very much wish I could buy. Sadly, I have no funds in the "Spur of the moment vintage coat purchasing" account and this marvelous beauty is not my size. :(
But if it fits you and you would like it, please have at it!
If you are a lover of the 40's look, you need to watch this 2 minute video from Fashion Week. It showcases the new line of designer Lena Hoschek from Austria. These clothes are beyond words in thrillingness. And (!!!) the video even has an Andrews' Sister song in the soundtrack!
If the video didn't have enough detail for you (it didn't for me!) check out Q's post with tons of lovely large images and Lena's official website (a huge thrill in itself!)
Mah Jong bracelets were extremely popular in the 1930s and 40s when housewives played Mah Jong in droves. The original tiles were made from Bakelite and actual vintage bracelets can go for a dear price. Etsy has some lovely samples of these staples of a bygone era, both vintage and new. They are perfect for putting that finishing touch on your vintage look. If you're interested in learning more about buying vintage Mah Jong bracelets, check out this fantastic site.
Ah, the 1940's. Travel back to a golden age of fashion with this simple (and surprisingly cheap) outfit. Walk along the beach with a handsome uniformed gentleman gallantly offering you his arm (the same gentleman whose photograph is discreetly kept inside your locket bracelet). If you have time, take a swim in the Esther Williams inspired suit. Afterward you can cover up in your lovely gingham robe and have a picnic lunch on the sand. Don't forget the picnic basket!
