I had every intention of buying ONE coat. It all started with #5-- one of the trench coats that I wanted in this post. Of course, while that was still in the mail I ordered this coat, which ended up having enormous shoulder poofs and was promptly returned.
Feeling emotionally stunted when the coat of my dreams looked monstrous on me, I set out to find a replacement.
First I bid on #6 on ebay from one of my favorite sellers, Bombshell Vintage. She is probably the only seller that I've bought from regularly, and she always has marvelous vintage-inspired dresses & coats. While I was waiting to see if I'd win that coat, I discovered Ruche.
Since the stock seemed to be quickly diminishing on #4, the cute Parisian trench coat, I thought I'd better order right away. And while I was at it, why not throw in that black and white mod number that would go so perfectly with that black and white cloche from Modcloth?!
So, let's take a quick head count. I have the polka-dot trench at home, one coat on ebay (which I eventually won) and I just bought two more. That's enough coats for any one person, right?
Wrong. Today Forever 21 added #1 and #2 to their New Arrivals section. My heart stopped, and my palms started sweating. I watched in a daze as my hand slowly moved the mouse to "add to cart" on both coats. No! Stop it! I tried to make my hand stop, but it wouldn't! I watched in horror as a hat and belt were also added to my cart... I think I might have blacked out after that, because the next thing I remember is checking my email and seeing an order confirmation from Forever 21.
So, yes, I have six coats now-- in addition to the dozens I already had at home that just weren't good enough. Mind you, I WORK FROM HOME! Why the heck do I need this many coats? I'm thinking of just shutting off the heat all winter so that, at the very least, I can wear my beautiful coat collection around the house...
My name is Kate, and I have a problem.

I feel like I've been picking on Modcloth a bit lately so I promise the next Find it Cheaper won't include Modcloth unless they have the cheaper item :) I really love them so I feel a little bad about it.
Thanks to Design is Mine I just found Ruche, a store really similar to Modcloth with vintage-inspired new clothing. I might just have a post coming up with some of my favorite items from the shop, because there are too many that I'm dying to share!
Ruche dress - $36.99
Modcloth dress - $49.99
I'm about 80% sure that this is the same dress-- but even if it's not, it's awfully close! Fred Flare sells pretty high quality stuff so I think it's safe to say it's not a Modcloth knock-off or anything.
My coat & hat came yesterday-- the hat is to die for, it's a nice cross between the 1920's and the 1960's, my two favorite fashion decades. The coat on the other hand... it has poufy shoulders that made me look like a linebacker. It's packed up and ready to go back in the morning :( The search for a perfect coat continues...
Fred Flare dress - $54
Modcloth dress- $64.99
I caught Samantha Brown's travel show this morning (love it, by the way!) and naturally she was in one of the most beautiful places on earth-- Florence Italy. I've always wanted to escape from New Jersey-- pretty much anywhere else would be fine-- but now I think I'm going to be more specific. You'll never guess where I want to live now... ahem... a girl can dream!
from Modcloth!! In 6 colors!!
Three-quarter length!! - $18.99

I went on Modcloth for my daily exercise in window shopping -- and saw this. My heart actually stopped beating for a few seconds.
Knowing how quickly they sell out of things, I added it to my cart and then started fishing around to see if I wanted to buy anything else (I always do this because I figure that if I go back and buy something again I need to spend more on shipping. Easier to just buy everything in one big lump.) That's when I remembered this coat that I was lusting after last week.
I bought the hat & the coat. I'm practically broke now, but who cares about money when you've got such a spiffy hat on your head & coat on your shoulders ;)

My adoration for Christian Bale knows no end, apparently, since I was powerless over the urge to share this with you...
Make sure you click through to the Etsy listing and read what the artist has written. I know just what she means. ;)
