flat wellies!

Maybe I don't get out much, but this is the first time I've ever seen flat wellies, and they are SO cute! I love the colors, the style, the little bow and oh, did I mention the fact that they are FLAT WELLIES!!

a little dose of loveliness

And it has the most adorable name. The "Washing & Hoping & Dreaming Dish Rack" *dies of cuteness* Unfortunately it's $42.99 so I found myself staring at my wire hangers wondering if I could twist them into something similar...

I've been internet-less for a while, which has it's up side -- no possible way I could spend money if I wasn't even connected. The down side? As soon as I got back online, one of my first destinations was Modcloth, followed quickly by Forever21. Oh gosh! It's hard not to get sucked into this glorious world of berets, beautiful dresses, the first sightings of fall coats (my weakness!!) and gorgeous unnecessary kitchen accessories.

ps. What does it say about me that I had the hardest time avoiding "rack" puns?

vintage sailor coat

I'm taking a page out of Kate's book and posting something I very much wish I could buy. Sadly, I have no funds in the "Spur of the moment vintage coat purchasing" account and this marvelous beauty is not my size. :(

But if it fits you and you would like it, please have at it!

Danger, Will Robinson!

Oh, hi there coat of my dreams.

I've wanted a coat like this since FOREVER, but of course I didn't find it until my epic spending freeze of 2010. (insert grumbling noise...) It was only posted on Fred Flare today, so I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that it's still in stock until August when I'm done saving up for my mom's and my grandmother's birthdays...

Stay put, coat. I NEED YOU.

ps. It's faux. I'd never wear real!!

Reasons I wish I wasn't on a self-imposed spending freeze #1

For me, the most natural thing to do when I've imposed a strict spending freeze is to window-shop at my favorite online stores. NATURALLY. It makes it easier to not spend my money, you know?

So today as I was lusting over this hat (among other things... let's not bring up the Modcloth dress, OK??) I thought I could easily combine two things:

1) my desire to show off the things I'd like to buy without actually purchasing them and wearing them in public, and

2) my desire to bring Spiffy back from the dead.

And voila! There you have it -- a series of posts in which I share with you the things that I'm not buying; thereby sharing their loveliness with the world without spending money, and simultaneously breathing some life into our dear departed blog.

raid Kate's closet

I'm moving, so I'm doing a major downsizing... rather than list on ebay, I started a website to list my huge collection of stuff. So far I have about 80 items up including really awesome coats and dresses, film books, shoes, hats and a lot of Sinatra stuff. I'm planning on adding more and more in the coming weeks, so check it out.. bookmark it and check back often!

Need. Now.

Vintage evening gown on Etsy!

If it were not the price of my yearly earnings (well ALMOST! ;-D), I would totally be buying this dress right now!
