One of the main purposes of spiffy was for me to write about art that I want to promote, and have a place to catalog my favorites so that I could come back to the blog and ogle at my great finds without splurging on actually buying them all the time with my meager artists' income. Well that didn't work today. I just couldn't help myself... Would you be able to restrain yourself from taking out your wallet if you found this on etsy??

oh, please stay in stock for one more week!

I have been in love with this dress for months now, but I never wanted to pay $58 for it (I am very cheap, I know..) So today, I was just sitting at the computer, drinking some grapefruit juice and wasting my time looking at clothing I can't afford online when I see this-- $29.99 (Was $58) -- AHH! Now $29.99... that's more like it.

Only problem? I have an art show this weekend, NO clue how it will go, or if it will be rained out, and unless it goes over very well, $29.99 will be too much a dress. They still have my size left in stock, but who knows.. it could be ONE dress left. Just ONE dress sitting around in their warehouse waiting for me to buy it. Oh please, please stay put and don't budge.. I'll be back on Monday with my credit card!

*fyi* -- I decided to branch out on this blog to include all the things I love, which includes the aforementioned dress, fashion in general, artwork, food (vegetarian & vegan) decorating my house.... pretty much whatever I find spiffy..

Brigida Swanson

While looking for gocco prints the other day, I came across Yardia, Brigida Swanson's etsy store. Having extreme difficulty choosing just one gocco print to feature in my post, I instead saved her shop in my favorites so that I could come back later and do a post devoted entirely to her work.

In her Jane Austen series, Brigida does incredibly detailed, beautiful drawings of vintage dresses accompanied by the quotes from Austen's work. The images themselves are breathtaking, and Brigida chooses the most lovely verses to go with them.

What's more, Brigida is an artist after my own penny pinching heart.. not only does she offer inexpensive original gocco prints, but she also sells hand printed cards for a mere $4.00!
